Never run the engine without cooling water. Keep the intake submerged and monitor the cooling-water outlet. Stop the engine if water flow stops.
Reduce engine speed before shifting gears. Avoid shifting at high speed and do not rev the engine excessively while in neutral.
Flush the cooling system with fresh water after saltwater use, where specified by the manual. Clear debris from the intake and propeller, and store the motor in a dry, ventilated area.
